At Forever Living Care Services (FLCS), our Employment Program is dedicated to providing comprehensive support for individuals with special needs. Every individual who is willing, ready, and able to work should have the opportunity to do so. Fostering an inclusive workplace is a crucial priority for us, and we are committed to breaking down barriers to employment.
We offer a range of services to assist job seekers with special needs in overcoming challenges in the employment process. These services include resume preparation, interview coaching, and essential job skills training. We aim to equip individuals with the tools and confidence to navigate the job market successfully. Through these initiatives, FLCS strives to create an environment where everyone can access fulfilling employment opportunities regardless of their unique abilities.
Skill Acquisition, Learning, and Integration
FLCS is committed to facilitating skill acquisition for individuals with special needs through a comprehensive approach centred on three key elements: Deliberate Practice, immersive real-life experiences, and ongoing practice. Our approach involves:
- Cultivating personalized and group connections with individuals.
- Recognizing and comprehending the domains in which they excel.
- Nurturing their strengths.
For instance, consider an individual grappling with anxiety disorder who has a keen interest in employment. Despite struggling in high-pressure environments, we identified a suitable job at Cineplex theatres, where the individual performs ticket checks and works during less hectic daytime hours, fostering a positive work experience.
Another success story at FLCS involves an individual proficient in disassembling and reassembling items like lawnmowers and car parts. Through volunteering at Airsoft, the individual honed these skills by disassembling and reassembling airsoft guns for customers. Leveraging this expertise, the individual secured a position with an HVAC company specializing in assembling air conditioning units within customers' homes. This exemplifies FLCS's commitment to tailoring skill acquisition strategies to each individual's unique strengths and circumstances.
Workplace Integration
FLCS is dedicated to fostering workplace integration for adults with special needs, aiming to establish an inclusive and supportive environment that caters to their unique abilities and ensures equal opportunities for professional development. We collaborate with organizations to provide tailored accommodations, job-matching opportunities, comprehensive training and skill development, transparent communication, and robust advocacy for our individuals.
Mentoring and On-the-Job Training and Support
At FLCS, our Mentoring Program fosters a collaborative partnership between a seasoned individual (Support team) and a less experienced individual (clients) to facilitate the client's personal growth. Mentors (staff) offer guidance, advice, and support based on their expertise and experience in the specific job. They assist our clients in setting goals, acquiring new skills, and navigating challenges within their particular focus areas. The commitment to workplace integration at Forever Living is exemplified through these initiatives.
Care Services, relationships can be formal or informal in this program. Some individuals are supported at Above and Beyond Care in the mentoring and on-the-job training program.
